Guest Blogger on Rusty Solomon Analysis As To  Who Would Be The Best American President For Israel?

Rusty SolomonAs one of the closest allies and countries most dependent on the support of the United States, Israel will be watching the upcoming presidential elections with a vested interest. As Rusty Solomon has pointed out in recent conversations, this means that Israel will be rooting for the candidate with the most pro-Zionist views. Israel is always on the brink of war since its inception, and a presidential candidate whose views may stray toward isolationism could be disastrous for the Jewish state.

According to a metric called the Israeli factor, many Israelis are under the impression that Republican candidate Mit Romney would be the most beneficial choice for their state. While Obama is ranked second among all possible candidates as far as having pro-Israeli views, Romney is ranked higher. John Huntsman comes in third, followed by former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Newt Gingrich. Rusty Solomon believes the “Israeli factor” is anecdotal by a good indicator.

The Israeli Factor, which was invented by the Israeli Post, is subject to many fluctuations since its inception prior to the 2008 election. Those who are familiar with the metric, stated Rusty Solomon, “would be quick to point out that the rankings, though they are certainly indicative of which candidates would be more prone to Israeli support, are more of a guideline than a concrete statistic.”

Before the GOP began its nomination run in February of 2011, it favored many Democratic nominees, with Hillary Clinton being a slight favorite over incumbent Barack Obama, however the recent feedback favors many of the Republican candidates. The surprising results of the poll, as Rusty Solomon concludes, are the inclination toward the Tea Party.

Despite the fact that the Tea party has somewhat of a reputation for being anti-Semitic, they have been one of the most vocal political supporters of Israel. The deep Christian roots of the Tea Party lead many of its members to be in great support of Israel as the birthplace of their Messiah. They would be vehemently opposed to Sharia law being in place in Jerusalem, which would be the case were it taken over by Islamic extremists.

Michelle Bachmann is one of the more vocal leaders in the movement, yet despite her inclination to support the state against the threat of Islamic rule, her Israeli Factor is incredibly low. She ranks just above Rick Santorum. Immediately above her, is candidate Herman Cain, though he makes many Israelis uncomfortable because of his indiscernible views toward foreign policy.

Many Israelis are upset that Rudy Guilliani decided not to run, because they feel as though he may be the best candidate for their causes. The former mayor of New York, as Rusty Solomon pointed out, is highly sympathetic to Israel.

Obama has been falling in his Israeli factor because of his clashes with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. His suggestion that Israel should revert to its 1967 borders upset many Israelis. He further exacerbated his standing when he and French President Nikolas Sarkozy referred to the Israeli Prime Minister as a “liar.” They said that they were also “fed up” with him.

Rusty Solomon stated in a recent interview by this writer that “this will certainly be one of the most interesting presidential races in American history as it pertains to Israel. With tensions between Palestine at an all-time high, Israel can ill afford to have an unsympathetic United States President. Israelis will be watching closely to see which candidates have particular views on the potential border struggles.”
